December 31, 1862

31 Wednesday I came of picket and it was a very cold night and I aint a doinge anythinge today.  This is the last day in this year and our forces has left nashvill and went for Murfeesboro and I don’t know whether our men is in or not and Im 10 mills north of Nasvill a helpinge to build a blockhouse and we got the southside sown dry creek and the junction of the [Roberg?]
