The battle was fought at Perryville the sixth day and the 7th of this month. Kirby Smith’s forces attacked us as we were on the way to Perryville. And the 6th attacked them and had a small brush with our lieutenant officers was to have seen some sixty killed and wounded. General Sill was commanding the division.
