About Me

Welcome to the Motter family history page!

My name is Robin (Motter) Heise and I am a recent graduate of the  M.A. program in Public History at Wright State University.  I received my Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Psychology and a Master of Higher Education Administration at the Ohio State University.  After spending twelve years working in administrative positions within higher education I decided that it was time for a change and time to pursue my love of history.  While enrolled in the Public History program, I have had an opportunity to  pursue some of my interest areas: the Civil War, Native Americans, local history, and genealogy.

I am a member of the Ohio Local History Alliance, the Society of American Archivists, American Association of Museums, the Yellow Springs Historical Society, the Greene County Historical Society, and the Greene County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society.  I am currently the Records Manager and Archivist at the Greene County Archives in Xenia, Ohio.

Studying my family history has always been important to me.  In order to understand who you are today, you have to understand where you came from–you have to know your roots!  It is my hope that this page will provide a venue to share my research on the Motter family of which I am a descendant. I also hope that this page might serve as a place for others, who have completed Motter family research, to share their stories and discuss their knowledge of the Motter family.

    Hello Robin,
I did a search on my grandfather Jesse Hamilton and your site came up. You have done a wonderful job and I will return to read more as time permits. I have only been working on my family tree for about a year, but find it very interesting. I have many pictures, but am not too sure who everyone is. My cousin and I went through pictures and since she is a little older than I, she know who some were that I did not.

    Hi Diane!
I’m so glad that you found my site and it’s always good to meet a “cousin”! This site basically began with a couple of Hamilton family photo albums that had been sitting around collecting dust for many years! I thought it was time to figure out who these people were and tell their story (as best as I can!). Feel free to add any stories/information that you might have! Although I’ve been working on my family history for about fifteen years now, I’m always learning something new!!
Take care and keep in touch!
    Robin

    Hi,

Are you related to any Motters from the Magnolia/Morges area in Carroll County Ohio? If so I am a decedent of the Felix Motter line.

Would love to talk with you and see what info you have!

    Thanks Kris

    Hi Kris,
To my knowledge, there is no connection to Carroll County, Ohio. However, the Motter surname is not very common so it’s possible there is a connection somewhere back in history.
